Did you know poor sleeping quality and shorter sleeping time may increase the odds of high blood pressure (hypertension) later in life?
According to researchers, writes the article from American Heart Association (http://americanheart.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=496): “the odds of elevated blood pressure increased 3.5 times for those with low sleep efficiency and 2.5 times for those with sleeping periods of less than 6.5 hours, even after adjusting for gender, body mass index and socioeconomic status.”
Not only could high blood pressure kill the person, it is also said that they will have a drastic effect on one’s brain. They usually accumulate more and more holes in their brain over time, leading to more cognitive impairment, brain injury and memory loss.
Some advice for a good quality sleep:
1) Keep away from electro-magnetic interference to your brain by keeping electronics away from your bed.
2) Don’t do anything too attentive just before you sleep, this is what causes most dreams (when your subconscious is still active when you sleep).
3) Do something relaxing before going to sleep, such as listen to music, meditate. Make sure the brain is calm and relaxed before sleeping.
